Library Operation at the end of 2022

From Jan 2, 2023 the operating hours will be specified according to the current heating situation.

Jižní Město Library will be closed from December 19 until the end of 2022. Please use the services of the central library in Žižkov.

Study spaces during the building’s heating restrictions

From December 19, only a limited number of study places will be available in the library’s lending area; the study room will be closed due to heating restrictions. Ordering and picking up books remains unchanged.

There are places that you can use instead of the study rooms:

  • Rector’s Lounge of the Academic Club
  • Classrooms RB 115 and RB 116
  • Room RB 336

Upon request, we will lend books from the study room to other study spaces, or it will be possible to borrow reference-only books until 10:00 a.m. the next day. Please note that a late fee of CZK 50 per working day is charged for unreturned reference-only books. The library has no obligation to lend books from the reference-only funds and has the right to refuse the loan to the user.

Borrowings and returns at the end of the year

How to return books: At the time of closing the libraries, books can be returned to the bibliobox located at the entrance to the Old Building  in Žižkov.

How to borrow books:

Loans of the books for reference only from the study room in Žižkov will be provided continuously on Thursday, December 22, 2022, as agreed. The return date will be set to January 3, 2023, without the possibility of extension. From January 4, 2023, a late fee of CZK 50 will be charged for non-returned books for each working day. The library is not obliged to lend the books from the study room and has the right to refuse the loan to the user.

Short-term loans can be ordered directly from the catalogue (katalog.vse.cz).

The interlibrary loan service will not be processed between December 23, 2022 and January 3, 2023.

It will be possible to order books during the closing of the library, they will be ready for collection on January 3, 2023 (except for books located Točná and Chris Tame Library).
