Reading Havel on the Occasion of His 90th Birthday
In 2026, we commemorate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Václav Havel — president, playwright, and a prominent figure in modern Czech history.
On the occasion of World Book Day on 23 April 2026, libraries across the Czech Republic are joining the Reading Havel initiative, organised in collaboration with the Václav Havel Library.
The VŠE Library is joining this initiative with a themed display in the reading room at Žižkov.
What you will find:
- a selection of Václav Havel’s works and books about his life and legacy
- the option to borrow the displayed titles
- photographs of Václav Havel from the archive of Oldřich Škácha
- a short video, “The Role of the Czech President”, screened in the library
