Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2026

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences to American economists Robert E. Hall and Michael Woodford for their research on the microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic stabilisation (Press release).

Their work has significantly influenced the economic models used today by central banks and governments to address inflation, economic recessions, and other economic shocks. Thanks to their contributions, we have a better understanding of how the decisions made by households and firms shape the development of the broader economy.
