Is it necessary to cite?

As a rule we cite other people’s ideas (in the form of a direct quotation or paraphrase), specific data and new information. It is important to notice that you must cite any sentence that you directly take on to your work must be cited. The difference between the new information (that must be cited) and a well-known fact (which is not necessary to cite) may not be clearly defined.
