Nobel Prize in Economics 2023

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2023, commonly referred to as the Nobel Prize in Economics, to Professor Claudia Goldin of Harvard University “for having advanced our understanding of women’s labor market outcomes”.

According to a statement from the Swedish Academy of Sciences, the laureate provided the first comprehensive overview of women’s earnings and labor market participation over the centuries. Her research reveals the causes of change as well as the main sources of the persistent gender gap.
