ORCID Profile
This is a unique identification of a publishing researcher through a personal code. ORCID was established by a U.S.-based nonprofit organization in response to the ResearcherID identifier managed by Clarivate Analytics, the operator of Web of Science. Similarly, in the Scopus citation database, the Scopus Author ID is automatically assigned to authors. In contrast, ORCID is designed to unify data from various databases and to serve as an independent identifier fully controlled by the researcher.
The main advantages of ORCID for the research community are that this identifier is international, unique, and permanent. Thus, an author can be easily distinguished from others with the same name, even from different countries. The identifier remains valid even if the author changes their name, for example, after marriage.
